Mrs. Wood was my diagnostician for 4 years at an elementary school. She was a building leader and a true team leader to our special education team. The school relied on her expertise when using test results to come up with the best plan for each student.

When testing children she was thorough and had great insight into the ways to get the best and most accurate results. When results were difficult for parents or guardians to hear, she was honest while also being empathetic.

I highly recommend her and am excited for this new venture.

Meet Monica Wood M. Ed.

I’m Monica Wood, a certified Bilingual Educational Diagnostician with a passion for helping children thrive. I earned my Master's of Special Education from the University of North Texas and a second Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington. I also hold a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Woman’s University. My certifications include Bilingual Education, Legacy Master Reading Teacher, Reading Specialist, Special Education, and Bilingual Educational Diagnostician.

My journey in education began as a bilingual teacher, working closely with students who needed extra support. I’ve been involved in Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tier Student Support Teams, served as an Instructional Support Teacher, and worked as a Teacher Coach, even writing curriculum for school districts. My personal connection as a parent of a special needs child inspired me to transition into special education. I understand firsthand the challenges and triumphs that come with navigating the special education system, and I’m here to help you and your child every step of the way.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, I’ve had the pleasure of working on the Early Childhood Assessment Teams and Bilingual Evaluation Teams. I’ve evaluated children with diverse needs, including Assistive Technology, Communication Disorders, Behavioral Needs, and Autism. Additionally, I provide special education training and professional development for districts and other educational centers.

Outside of work, I live in Rowlett with my wonderful husband, our son, daughter, and our lovable beagles. Balancing my career and family life is important to me. I enjoy working out, embroidery, painting, and reading. Dancing and home-cooking are also some of my favorite activities. I’m dedicated to making our community a supportive and nurturing environment for all our children.

I’m excited to partner with you and your child on this educational journey!
